The Institute grows out of Teranga Law by Cissé-Green, P.C. Its governance separates strategy, operations, and oversight — four bodies, each with a defined charter. We publish them in full, because transparency is how trust is earned.
Anta Cissé-Green, Esq., LL.M. — Founder
Anta Cissé-Green is the founder of The Baobab Institute for Nonprofit Law and the Principal Attorney of Teranga Law by Cissé-Green, P.C. She built the Institute on a simple conviction: no mission should fail for want of a lawyer.
A magna cum laude graduate of Brooklyn Law School with an LL.M. in Taxation from NYU School of Law, Anta has served as General Counsel at SUNY and at IEEE, Associate General Counsel at NYU Langone Health, and began her career at Sullivan & Cromwell LLP. She is admitted in New York and New Jersey and is a Certified Compliance & Ethics Professional (CCEP).
Born into a Senegalese family and raised in the United States, she practices in English, French, and Wolof, with a presence in both New York and Senegal. Her work is grounded in Teranga — the Wolof ethic of radical hospitality — and a belief that grassroots nonprofits deserve the same caliber of counsel as the largest institutions. Through Baobab, she is training the next generation of culturally responsive nonprofit lawyers while serving the organizations that hold our communities together.
